I have been involved in disability arts for most of my career, and making work that is inclusive and accessible for all is particularly important for me. Whether working with disability-led programmes such as Sync or creating work directly with and for disabled artists I always strive to create work that can be for everyone.
ACCESSIBILITY
Sync Leadership
I’ve been working as the lead editor for Sync Leadership, a leadership and coaching company based in the UK that has created leadership courses for disabled & Deaf artists all over the world in person and online. I’ve been lucky enough to capture and edit work in person with Sync in Canada and the UK.
Naturally, access streams are really important in Sync, so the work is often created with subtitles, sign language interpretation, and audio description versions. I have take what I’ve learnt about accessibility working with Sync to all of my work.
Chisato Minamimura
Working on Chisato Minamimura’s Scored In Silence was and still is the most exciting piece I’ve worked on. I was involved in the capture of this piece at Ovalhouse theatre in London before leading the edit, integrating the audio description, vibrations, narration, soundtrack and projected animations in multiple different versions. So that the film can be shown with accompanying vibration score around the world.
Scored In Silence was a technical and creative triumph and I feel very lucky to have been a part of it.
I have also worked for disablity-led programmes Clore and Access All Areas, disabled artists Lou Coleman and Stuart Waters, and created accessible videography for Brighton Digital Festival. More can be found on my Vimeo.
